Happy Spring!
New life is upon us. Heat is
upon us (well, it should be). Spring cleaning is upon
us. Why not carry your newfound desire to put things in
order in your physical world over to your digital world as
well? Is today garbage day for you? Go ahead and
empty the Recycle Bin on your
computer too!
While you're at it, I challenge you
to take a closer look at how you are dealing with your
passwords. The last thing you want to be doing is
dealing with an identity theft issue and asking yourself
"Why was my password SO EASY?!?". Read
on and we'll help you prevent just that.

Passwords: Security's Weakest
Link
It is important to create and use a STRONG password for
each of your online accounts. Here are a few tips to
help you accomplish this:
- Longer is better: The more
characters your password has, the harder it will be to guess
or to crack.
- Diversity is key: Ensure that the
characters you choose to comprise your password are a
healthy mix of upper case, lower case, numbers and special
characters. The more variety you have the less likely
your password will be hacked.
- SHHHH...: It should go without saying,
but you should guard your passwords carefully and only share
them with those you fully trust. Even then, only share
them when it is absolutely necessary.
- Stickies-Be-Gone: One of the worst
things you can do is write your password on a sticky note
and hide it under your keyboard or some other equally
"obscure" location. Shred those little guys - you know
who you are - I'm talking to you - yes you! I've even
seen passwords stuck to computer monitors, right in
plain view. Easy access for sure. Don't do this!
- Too Obvious: You should never use
obvious pieces of information for your password.
Birthdays, addresses, spouse names, pet names, etc. would
all fall into this category. These are often the first
to be guessed when someone may be trying to break into one
of your accounts. Be creative.

Words from Dave:
"Just a short note to praise my second experience with
Wingenuity. The first time, Loren came to our home and set up
our in house system, which is still operating to perfection.
The second problem was with our laptop and was handled in your
office in Bristol. In this case Edmund (your tech) did a
crackerjack job of cleaning a virus from the hard drive.
In both instances time was taken to explain what was being
done and the steps needed to get our situation resolved.
My impression of all our interaction
was the customer comes first and what was needed to be done
was in fact taken care of. It's refreshing to see an
organization like Wingenuity established and grow. The
watch word that comes to mind is TRUST, it's hard to build and
easy to destroy. I don't easily recommend someone, but
in your case it's with a great deal of confidence that you are
number one on my list as the MR. FIXIT of
computers.
Hats off to you, keep up the good
work.
Thanks again,
David J.
Evans" -------------------------------------------------- |
